Colorado’s 9 News claims to have a secret source on the Cloverfield set that provided some additional details about the movie that were previously unknown. The source also claims that Slusho.jp is an untapped goldmine of clues:
9NEWS Entertainment Reporter Kirk Montgomery learned exclusively on Friday from a secret source, who is on the set of the film every day, that it is not a sequel or a remake (which precludes King Kong or Godzilla). It is not Voltron or “Lost”-related.
The source told Kirk the entire film will be presented through a handheld video camera, as in the style of the trailer. All of the actors involved had not seen scripts when they signed on for the project and are under strict legal gag-orders not to discuss any aspect of the film.
The source says 50 percent of the $30 million budget for the film is devoted to special effects.
The official Web site is http://www.1-18-08.com, but the source tells Kirk that apparently a Japanese-style Web site, http://www.slusho.jp, has lots of clues yet undiscovered by the rabid fans who have been scouring the Internet for hints.
The source told Kirk the biggest clue of the trailer is in the line: “I saw it, it’s alive, it’s huge.”
The source also says the sound the “creature” makes is another big clue. He says the creature is an organic, living thing.

I love how the entry is just regurgitated information from other blogs on the internet. Someone should tell them their source is way too late in the game to join!
I don’t know about that. I thought Slusho.jp was tapped-out and I’ve been waiting for more content. Apparently, there’s way more to be discovered at the site so new content [at Slusho] isn’t something we should be waiting for, we should instead be digging deeper into Slusho.
Then there’s the added confirmation to posts and comments at AICN from Herc and Moriarty that the monster is a new creation — which shoots down the theories regarding the monster being Cthulhu, Godzilla, Voltron, Pokemon, Digimon, Lost’s Smokey, the Rampage trio, and Dick Cheney.
Okay… I made that last theory up just now.
3:56 PM — And I added “[at Slusho]” above to clarify my point.
Semidi, the entry they posted is regurgitated. It isn’t anything new, and that’s what my point was 😉
I’ve already read from various other bloggers and forums that there is definitely something more to Slusho then what we see right now. Obviously we have to wait until something new is added/changed in order to find it. Everyone already is digging deeper into Slusho, because that’s the only lead we have right now, outside of watching the trailer 50 more hours then necessary.
Either way, I’m not really holding AICN too high on the list of “sources,” so anything that they post about from now on, I’m just taking with a grain of salt.
I think AICN gets a bad rap because Knowels is a geek who loves just about any movie the first time through. When it comes to behind the scenes stuff like this, I can’t really think of anyone better other than a primary source. These guys are pretty entrenched in Hollywood at this point, and they have no incentive to fabricate.
I didn’t make my earlier comment clearly, so I added a little something to it. Basically, I’ve been waiting for new content at Slusho, but according to the 9News source that isn’t necessary because we’re still missing clues in the current content.
At this point I’m burned out on hunting — and I’ve been doing this for only 9 days.
Here is one crazy but yet, extremely almost believable theory. Remember, JJ Abrams was born and raised into a Jewish family. So this is extremely possible.
If you look at the trailer you can see the number 3 being referenced to everywhere. The 63 degrees on the news channel, The 12:36, the 2004 ACE, numbers that are all dividable by 3. Last, but not least, you hear the thundering monster sound three times, each sound accompanied by a different event. Romans 1:18;For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. So what in biblical mythology has connections to the slew of references in the trailer? The three great monsters. In Jewish belief, Behemoth is the primal unconquerable monster of the land, as Leviathan is the primal monster of the waters of the sea and Ziz the primordial monster of the sky. 1) The first monster roar is accompanied by an earthquake (Behemoth) 2) The second monster roar is accompanied by a huge fireball (Leviathan, for it can breathe fire) 3) The third monster roar is accompanied by the flying Statue of Liberty head (Ziz). Not convinced? The guy who says;maybe we can get a better view from the roof & has the Slusho logo on his shirt. Slusho is a classic J.J. Abrams icon, and it has appeared in both Alias and Lost, which are his shows. Slusho.jp has, by now, been confirmed as a part of the viral marketing campaign revolving around 1-18-08. Japan. Strangely enough, the character Rob, who is present in the trailer, was gonna fly to Japan a day after that party and the monster events. Let’s have a look around on that site. Not all pages are accessible. But there is an odd feature about the pages that are available. The main page background is on land, the Downloads page background is on air, and the History page background is on sea. Furthermore, the six buttons on the main page cause popups of various animals, namely a Horse, a Whale and a Bird. Behemoth, Leviathan, Ziz.
What does Abram’s Judaism have to do with anything? A Christian or an atheist could just as easily concoct such a movie.
As for the horse: It’s actually a donkey, according to several people who dissected the site’s Flash files.
I think this Apocalypse angle is just an excuse for Christian fundamentalists to propagandize their beliefs; those people will do anything to promote their mythology.
lol semidi, just a hint…
Judaism isn’t Christianity, please try again.
Judaic apocalypse, Christian apocalypse… It’s all bullshit to me. Still, my point that any goy could’ve come up with a story steeped in Judaic apocalypticism still stands. And now we know that Abrams was inspired by Godzilla during a recent trip to Japan, so it look likes the religious-mythology angle really doesn’t hold water.
Wow, I came off as a bit of an ass (or, y’know, donkey) in the “July 20th, at 9:47 am” comment, didn’t I? A little clipped in tone. Sorry.
Things have quited down on 1-18-08 front…any new info?
I really haven’t followed it; I just got burned out and stopped digging about two weeks ago.
