More right-wing terrorism like Jim Adkisson’s, a disgruntled Democratic Party employee (a witness said the shooter mentioned something about losing his job), or simply someone with a personal grudge against the now-deceased chair of Arkansas’ Democratic Party?
Update, 08/13/08, 4:30 PM:
Here’s a nice write-up about Gwatney’s life, since we’re going to be hearing a lot about his death for the next few days.
Update, 08/14/08, 7:15 PM:
A few more details on Timothy Dale Johnson and the odd behavior he engaged in before murdering Bill Gwatney. So far, no motive has been established (or at the very least, shared with the public by authorities). Personally, I’m beginning to think we’re looking at another right-wing terrorist.

Timothy Dale Johnson was a stalker:
Searcy Police Department has two incident reports on file against Johnson from an employee at Dr. Neaville’s Family Dentistry. She says Johnson made un-welcomed advances towards her.
The report says in January 2005, Johnson asked if he could take her on a date. She told him that she was happily married and they could just be friends. Then on Valentine’s Day 2005 the report says he brought her some flowers. He reportedly returned three days later and handed her a disturbing letter which upset her greatly. That’s when she called police and filed a complaint.
A year later, Johnson returned with a box of candy for the employee. Again police were notified.
Update, 08/21/08, 11:40 AM:
Allegedly, according to a recent college classmate named Reggie Tucker, Johnson was a Clinton-hater:
In years past, Johnson has voted in both Republican and Democratic primaries in White County.
Tucker says he and other classmates do recall Johnson being vocal about his views.
“I would always remember going to class and I would see that he had a Bill Clinton anti-campaign sticker [on his car] that says I don’t miss Bill. “He would surf the internet and he would see that a Democrat had died and he would laugh about it.”
I think his voting Democrat might have been motivated by a Republican desire to sabotage the Democratic primaries. Looks like we have yet another right-wing terrorist targeting liberals and progressives, just like Jim Adkisson.
