This piece about the Jim Johnson fiasco is just par for the miserable course that Benen embarked on several months ago with his support for Barack Obama:
…Members of the VP search committee aren’t even paid, and whether Obama vetted the vetters seems largely inconsequential…
Say WHAT?! A presidential wannabe is letting a group of unvetted committee members play a major role in naming his potential replacement — a potential PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES — and that “seems largely inconsequential?”
I honestly don’t know how Benen can look at himself in the mirror without wincing. I really don’t.
Of course this doesn’t excuse (or even lessen) McCain’s hypocrisy in criticizing the company that Obama keeps, something Benen points out in his post. But still, Benen’s own double-standard here is mind-boggling.
Here’s more about the sweetheart deals that Johnson’s company, Countrywide, gave to various political VIPs, some of them prominent Obama supporters.
